5th February 2012; 5th Sunday Ordinary Time (B)

1) Job 7:1-4. 6-7   "Is not man's life on earth nothing more then pressed service,.....my life is but a breath, and that my eyes will never again see joy."   Job's famous lament.

2) Psalm 146 "...he heals the broken hearted...The Lord raises the lowly; he humbles the wicked to the dust."  In praise of a just God.

3) 1 Corinthians 9:16-19, 22-23. "...preaching the gospel,...is a duty which has been laid on me....my reward...?...to offer the Good News free...to have a share in it's blessings."

4)   Mark 1:29-39.   " Let us goelsewhere, to the neighbouring country towns, so that I can preach there too, because that is why I came."
